NSS (National Service Scheme)
The College has one wing of N.S.S. for boys and girls. The cadets have to undergo training of four hours a week. Besides, they have to attend an annual training of 14 days.

The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social upliftment of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.
Mission
The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS aims at the volunteers’ Personality Development through Community Service

- Anagha S Raj (Sem 4 BA English) secured the Award of Appreciation for the Best NSS Volunteer from the University of Kerala in the year 2020-2021
- Anagha S Raj, Sem 4 BA English & Muhammed Sabith, Sem 4 B.Sc. Statistics, were selected from the the Alappy district to participate in the Pre-Republic Day Parade to be held at Chennai
- Representing Kerala, Anagha S Raj, Sem 4 BA English was selected from the university of kerala to participate in the Pre-Republi Day Parade held at Chennai
- Jincy George (SEM 4 B.Sc. Botany) secured the NSS Award for the Best NSS Volunteer from the University of Kerala in the year 2019-2020
- T.Nishad, Assistant Professor, Department of English, secured the NSS Award for the Best Programme Officer from the University of Kerala in the year 2018-2019
- Jincy George ( B.Sc. Botany) was selected to participate in the 7Day National Integration Camp Organized from 21/ 2/2020 to 27/02/2020 conducted by NSS Regional Directorate Tvm, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and Marian College Kuttikanam, Kerala.
- Secured the Overall Championship in NSS Youth Festival Fest held at St.Michael’s College, Cherthala.
- Drishya Unni from B.Sc Chemistry was selected as the NSS Volunteer from University of Kerala to represent Kerala to Participate in the Adventure Camp held at Kulu-Manali
1. Al-Haj PK Kunju Sahib Memorial Snehabhavanam- The House Construction Initiatives to construct house for the homeless and giving financial assistance for the renovation of houses for the poor people in the Community
2.Medical camps for the people in the adopted village
3.Karunahastham- a programme to support the physically and mentally challenged in the community
4.Snehastham- a programme to contribute clothes for orphanage
5. Mangalyanidhi- a programme to give financial assistance for the marriage of poor people in the community.
6.Kaithang- a fund raising programme to donate money to purchase a bus for transporting specially abled students to the Saketh Special School, Kayamkulam
7.Packets of rice distribution to the poor people in the community on a monthly basis.
8.Patanolsavam- Distributing study materials to the impoverished students in the community
9.Sahaynidhi- providing financial assistance to the financially backward families in the community
11.Harithaalayam- a project to cultivate fertilizer-free vegetables to be distributed to the community in the time of Onam Festival
12.Palliative Care Project to give medical and financial aid to the bed –ridden patieets in the adopted village
13.Hope drops- a programme in coordination with Alappuzha Medical College to donate blood to the dialysis patients

Celebration of independence day - NSS
August 15
The NSS Unit of MSM College, Kayamkulam, organized the 79th Independence Day celebrations of India under the campaign “Mera Bharat” with a variety of programs.
The event was inaugurated by the College Principal, Dr. A. Muhammed Thaha, who hoisted the national flag and delivered the Mera Bharat Independence Day message. College Vice Principal Dr. Divya V. extended her greetings on the occasion.
The celebrations included a patriotic song performance by NSS volunteers, an Independence Day rally, and the anti-narcotics pledge. The rally, which began from the college, went around the town and concluded back at the campus. Around 50 volunteers from the unit actively participated in the event.
In the afternoon, in connection with Independence Day, the volunteers also took part in the program “Kalikkalam Aanente Lahari” organized by the C.V. Raman Foundation.
Akshara Keralam – Education Survey
The NSS Unit of MSM College, Kayamkulam, successfully conducted an educational survey under the Akshara Keralam programme. The survey was carried out in 439 households across wards 4, 5, 37, and 39 of the Kayamkulam Municipality.
As part of the survey, the volunteers identified and registered 61 learners, which included both illiterate individuals and those interested in pursuing further education.
This initiative aims to support the objectives of the Akshara Keralam Mission by promoting literacy and encouraging lifelong learning opportunities within the community

In connection with the activities of the National Literacy Mission, the Alappuzha District Literacy Mission, in collaboration with local self-governing bodies, is providing free educational facilities for illiterate individuals and those interested in continuing their education. To identify such individuals, NSS volunteers across the district are conducting a survey. NSS volunteers and Literacy Mission Club members of MSM College, Kayamkulam, are also actively participating in this initiative.
The college-level inauguration of the program was conducted by the College Principal, Dr. A. Muhammed Thaha. Mr. K. V. Ratheesh, District Coordinator of the Alappuzha Literacy Mission, and Mrs. Sumayya B.T., Literacy Mission Prerak of Kayamkulam Municipality, also attended the event and explained the objectives of the program. MSMC NSS volunteers and Literacy Mission members participated in the meeting.
Following this, trained NSS volunteers Agnas and Ashwini introduced the Google Form prepared for the survey. The NSS program officers of MSM College, Dr. Sreeja R. and Mr. Jijo C. Varghese, led the event.
One day training program video album song 'life is Beautiful ' releasing
The National Service Scheme (NSS) of the University of Kerala organized a one-day anti-drug training program, Vimukthi, for the Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts on Saturday, 26th April 2025, at MSM College, Kayamkulam. The event, coordinated by the college’s NSS Unit, commenced at 10:30 AM. The program was inaugurated under the esteemed presidency of Prof. (Dr.) A. Mohammed Thaha, Principal of MSM College. Mr. Anwar Sadath, Assistant Excise Commissioner of Kasaragod, graced the occasion as the chief guest. During the inauguration, Mr. Sadath also released a video album produced by the NSS unit of the college. Ms. Preetha M. V., District Coordinator for Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta, extended the welcome address. Dr. Manoj T. R., Syndicate Member of Kerala University, delivered the keynote address. Dr. Lakshmi S., NSS Program Officer of S.D. College, Alappuzha, conveyed felicitations. The college principal and other contributors to the video album project were honored during the ceremony. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sreeja R., Program Officer of the MSM College NSS Unit. The training program continued throughout the day with three focused sessions. Classes on various aspects of drug eradication were conducted by Mr. Eby. M. S., Sub-Inspector of Kurathikad; Mr. Girish Kumar, Circle Inspector of Haripad; and Ms. Sunitha C. S., Counseling Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Hypnotist. A total of 46 selected NSS volunteers from various units in Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta participated in the training program. The one-day event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jijo C. Varghese, NSS Program Officer of MSM College.
