Department of English
The Department of English stands ever-committed to the lofty task of nation-building, by making a steady supply of richly informed, ethically upright, critically insightful and linguistically skilled youth, to strengthen the precious human resource of the country. This mission is sought to be accomplished through the amalgamation of a variety of empowering features such as knowledge, practical thought, rational capacity, analytical skills, technical prowess and communicative ability. The power thus gained is sought to be tempered and brought to a fine balance through the inculcation of reflective and spiritual values like compassion, aesthetic perception, and above all, a reverent allegiance to a force that controls everything.
Education, according to this vision, is complete only when the youth acquires moral, material and spiritual freedom, through the realization of a mental state that can harmoniously blend material aspirations with moral obligations, rights with duties, and aesthetics with ethics. Studies in the English language-creative, critical, theoretical-are oriented to this vision, and adapted to suit this mission.
