ANTI RAGGING CELL

 As per UGC regulations, Anti ragging cell performs different functions under the following headings.

  1. Measures for encouraging healthy interaction between freshers and seniors
  2. Measures for prevention of ragging at the institutional level.
  3. Monitoring mechanism to ensure compliances
  4. Allotting roles and responsibilities to the members of anti-ragging committee.
  5. Taking action and punishments against students indulging in ragging.

Measures for prevention of Ragging

Anti-ragging committee with anti-ragging squad creates awareness on prevention of ragging.

  • Incorporate the directions issued by the supreme court/UGC regulations/Central government/ State Government related to ragging in admission related documents.
  • Anti-ragging affidavit form is undertaken by every student and their parent at the time of admission in the college.
  • release the circular mentioning that ragging is totally banned in the institute premises and anyone found guilty of ragging is liable for punishment.
  • Display posters/ banners depicting effects of ragging, and the approach of the institution towards those indulging in ragging on all Notice boards, hostels, and other buildings as well as at vulnerable places.
  • Organize anti-ragging awareness programme, orientation activities and counseling sessions for students.
  • Ensure that first year students are lodged in separate Hostel blocks. Make routine visits to ensure there are no incident of ragging in the campus.
  • Make sure that helpline numbers are displayed in college premises and hostels to provide access to to the freshers to reach out for help.

ANTI- RAGGING COMMITTEE & ANTI RAGGING SQUAD

As per the direction of the UGC. An Anti -Ragging Committee and an Anti -Ragging squad are constituted in the college, to prevent ragging, a cognizable offence. It shall monitor the anti-ragging activities in the institution, considering the recommendations of the anti-ragging squad and take appropriate decisions, including spelling out suitable punishments to those found guilty.

Responsibilities and Policies Of Anti- Ragging cell

The policies of Anti Ragging Cell , MSM College, is as follows.

  • Devise mechanism for receiving , processing and addressing all information regarding incidence of ragging.
  • Advice college council and Disciplinary committee on handling cases of ragging from time to time.
  • Provide training and guidance to all staff and students on handling all complaints regarding ragging.
  • Timely address grievances of stakeholders and especially those related to gender sensitivity issues.
  • Seek advice of experts or legal opinions to handle complicated grievence cases related to ragging .
  • Submission of reports to college council and to the affiliating university
  • Maintain all records, statements,actions and other correspondances related to ragging cases.
  • Conducting meetings and minutes of the meetings noted and discussed with the committee members.

Protocol to be followed in the case of incidence of ragging.

  • Student experiencing ragging should submit a written complaint before anti-ragging committee.
  • Authenticity of the case will be examined by the members deputed by the convener, Anti ragging committee.
  • Initiation of the enquiry process by the members.
  • After enquiry, report will be submitted to the Head of the Institution.
  • Appropriate actions will be recommended to the Head of the Institution as per law.
