The Department of Political Science has been functioning meritoriously, ever since its inception in 1968. Being a social science department, it is our responsibility to mold the student community into social engineers and nation builders. In spite of being an undergraduate department, it has produced many eminent personalities throughout its history. We are humble but enduring to create wonders by utilizing the excellence of our department faculty.
In order to inculcate socio-political awareness and responsibility, the Department of Political Science encourages students to conduct debates and discussions on various topics of critical relevance. The Department, along with the Political Science Association, which is a students’ association, takes initiatives in conducting national and international seminars, invited lectures etc. in order to get expert views on contemporary issues of national and international importance. As part of extracurricular activities, the department has organized debates, quiz, essay writing and elocution competitions, participating students from within and outside, there by enhancing their skills. As part of co-curricular activities, students from the department have participated and secured prizes in inter-department, inter-collegiate, university and state level arts and sports competitions.
The department conducts electoral surveys in association with the Institute of Parliamentary affairs, prior to assembly and parliamentary elections, which gives students an experiential reality about democracy and the institutions involved. Students are also encouraged to conduct filed studies as part of their project work.
After completion of graduation, many of our students are pursuing higher studies in various institutions. Most of our students hold respectable positions in private and public sector undertakings.
